‘ The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that various events related to the Korean language will be held nationwide throughout May to celebrate ‘King Sejong’s Coming Day’. The events are planned to promote the beauty of our language and Hangul in various forms, and will be jointly organized by the National Institute of the Korean Language, regional Korean cultural centers, and the ‘우리말가꿈이’ program by the National Institute of the Korean Language.
National Institute of the Korean Language has signed a business agreement with Naver and will be conducting a campaign called ‘Smart Korean Language Living – Challenge: Change Foreign Languages!’ through Naver’s online platforms, the Institute’s website, and YouTube channels from the 13th to the 26th. The campaign invites submissions of short videos that demonstrate transforming foreign or loanwords into Korean, with prizes for outstanding works.

The regional Korean cultural centers have organized various commemorative events through collaboration with universities and local governments. Activities such as Korean language quiz, speech contests, linguistic competitions, and Korean education for children will take place on university campuses.
In addition, the ‘우리말가꿈이’ program, composed of around 470 university students nationwide, will participate in diverse experiential activities to honor King Sejong. These activities include quiz contests, campaigns, competitions, language refinement, and educational material creation at university campuses and local libraries.
