Naver Labor Union Announces Rally on the 27th Opposing the Return of CEO Choi In-hyuk

The Naver labor union, part of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, protested against the appointment of Choi In-hyuk as the inaugural head of the newly established “Tech Business” division directly under the CEO. On May 19, at Naver’s second office building, “1784,” in Seongnam, the union held a picketing session opposing Choi’s appointment. Choi had previously resigned from his position as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2021 following a workplace harassment incident. The union argues that his reinstatement disregards the responsibilities of management to address and prevent such workplace issues.

The union has announced that a vote will be held among its members later this week regarding Choi’s return, and a protest will take place on May 27 at noon. Union Chairman Oh Se-yoon stated that the events aim to ensure that past wrongdoings are not overlooked and to prevent any potential future occurrences.
