On the 25th, a production conference for the Netflix variety show ‘The Three Meals in Kenya’ was held in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Attendees included PD Na Young-seok, PD Kim Ye-seul, Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun.
‘The Three Meals in Kenya’ is a lively African travelogue featuring the trusted comedy creators Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun. This is the first variety show by Na Young-seok’s team, known for directing shows like ‘2 Days & 1 Night,’ ‘Three Meals a Day,’ ‘Youn’s Kitchen,’ and ‘New Journey to the West,’ to be presented on Netflix.
Ahead of the production conference, news of the veteran actor Lee Soon-jae’s passing in the early hours was announced. Na Young-seok PD had a connection with Lee Soon-jae through the series ‘Grandpas Over Flowers.’
Before the event began, Park Kyung-lim stated, “We’ve heard the news of Lee Soon-jae’s passing. We express our deepest condolences. He had a deep connection with Na PD through the series ‘Grandpas Over Flowers.'”
Na PD recalled his memories with the late actor, saying, “I was so surprised to hear the news this morning. I had traveled with him and shared many roles with him in various plays. However, I haven’t seen him for the past year as he had been unwell.”
He continued, “I was very shocked by the sudden news. During his lifetime, he often mentioned that he wanted to remain on stage until the end. His words made me reflect on the value of working diligently and sincerely, which was inspirational. I pray that he rests peacefully in heaven.”
Meanwhile, Lee Soon-jae passed away in the early hours of the 25th at the age of 91. The funeral hall is prepared at room 30 in the Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Visits are possible from around 1 PM. The funeral is scheduled for 6:20 AM on the 27th, and the burial will take place at Eden Paradise in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do.
