Mosu Seoul, a fine dining restaurant led by owner-chef Ahn Sung-jae, will reopen on the 22nd. The dinner tasting course is priced at 420,000 KRW per person, with a corkage fee of 200,000 KRW, allowing the entry of one bottle of wine per table.
Chef Ahn previously opened Mosu San Francisco in 2015, earning a Michelin 1-star rating within just eight months. In 2017, he launched Mosu Seoul in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, with investment from CJ CheilJedang, and it became the only Michelin 3-star restaurant in Korea. However, early last year, Ahn announced the end of the partnership with CJ CheilJedang and a temporary closure of Mosu Seoul. Later in September, he gained popularity as a judge on the Netflix show “Bistro of Darkness and Light: Culinary Class Warfare” for his logical and consistent critiques.
In a recent interview with a fashion magazine, Ahn revealed plans for Mosu Seoul’s reopening, stating, “Renovation work is being carried out by architect Cho Min-seok, known for designing the Serpentine Pavilion in the UK.” He expressed challenges in merging the charm of an old Korean-style Western house with modern touches. Despite considerations of cutting corners, Ahn is committed to evolving the restaurant beyond its previous standards.
Last month, Ahn posted a recruitment notice on his social media, inviting candidates for various positions at the new location. The post quickly went viral, amassing over 9,000 likes in a day.
