Actor Kim Ah-young, known for her “clear-eyed madman” character, is leaving “SNL Korea.” According to Star News on the 13th, Kim Ah-young will not be joining the reboot of “SNL Korea” Season 7, set to be released on Coupang Play in April. After discussions with the production team, she decided not to participate in the upcoming season and will be leaving the show. Following Joo Hyun-young and Yoon Ga-yi, Kim Ah-young is the latest crew member to depart from “SNL Korea.”
Kim Ah-young joined “SNL Korea” in November 2022 for the reboot of Season 3 and gained recognition as a crew member for four consecutive seasons. She notably appeared in the popular segment “MZ Office,” where she played a Millennial office worker, earning the nickname “clear-eyed madman” for her performance where she didn’t back down in a staredown with her superior, played by Joo Hyun-young.
Additionally, Kim Ah-young’s acting in dramas earned attention. She portrayed a photographer’s assistant in JTBC’s weekend drama “Welcome to Samdalri” (2023-2024) and a top beauty creator in “Her Days and Nights” (2024), receiving praise for her performances. She also starred in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Judge from Hell,” which concluded in November last year, and won the Best Actress award (Mini-Series Human/Fantasy category) at the SBS Drama Awards that year.
After leaving “SNL Korea,” Kim Ah-young plans to focus on her acting career. Currently, she is seeking her next project following “The Judge from Hell.” There is significant interest in what future roles Kim Ah-young will take on and her upcoming endeavors.
Meanwhile, “SNL Korea” is set to return with Season 7 on April 5th and is currently recruiting new crew members. Actor Ha Jung-woo has been chosen as the first host for the new season.
