**First Megawatt-Class UC System Commercialized in Korea… To Be Used in AI Data Centers, etc.**
(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kang Tae-woo = LS Materials announced that on the 29th, they held the first shipment ceremony for the new product ‘LS Ultragrid’ for power stabilization at IntekFA, a partner company located in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.
The Ultragrid is a rack-type ultracapacitor (UC) system capable of supplying stable megawatt (㎿) level power. It is expected to be supplied domestically and internationally for power stabilization in renewable energy facilities such as wind and solar power.
This product can supply ㎿ level power within 0.1 seconds, solving the power instability issues caused by output fluctuations, making it a key technology to watch.
According to industry sources, the adoption of rack-type UC systems is becoming mainstream in Europe, especially in Germany, and the global market is expected to grow to 100 billion won by 2026 and over 500 billion won by 2030.
LS Materials CEO Hong Young-ho stated, “The Ultragrid can be used in various fields requiring large-scale power, including renewable energy facilities, artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC), and energy storage systems (ESS). We plan to expand its market application in the future.”
