LGU+ undergoes organizational restructuring focused on AI transformation: “Accelerating AI assistant development”

Establishment of ‘AI Agent Promotion Group’ under the Consumer Division…Platform Business Integration

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jo Seong-mi = LG Uplus, which recently appointed a new head, announced on the 28th that it will undergo an organizational restructuring effective on the 1st of next month. The restructuring aims to establish a sustainable growth structure through the AI Transformation (AX) business and the digitalization of telecommunications.

To enhance its AI competitiveness, LG Uplus will establish the ‘AI Agent Promotion Group,’ which will lead the AI-based products and services.

The AI Agent Promotion Group will be under the Consumer Division, responsible for the B2C business. Within this group, new ‘Mobile Agent Tribe’ and ‘Home Agent Tribe’ will be created with the goal of developing AI services and products that can be experienced by customers.

LG Uplus emphasized, “These organizations are structured in a way that borrows from startup work methods, consisting of several independent teams. Based on this, we plan to accelerate the development of new AI-based services.”

An ‘Agent·Platform Development Lab’ will be placed directly under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to expedite the development of new AI-related services, and an ‘AX·Talent Development’ team will be placed under the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) to support the strengthening of employees’ AX capabilities.

As part of the organizational restructuring for the digitalization of telecommunications, the prepaid plan-based telecommunications platform ‘Nugget’ will be moved to the Consumer Division, and platform services such as the subscription platform ‘Youdok’ and the commerce platform ‘YouCook’ will be integrated into the ‘Subscription·Omni Platform’ management.

Additionally, existing organizations such as Infinistar and Kidsland, which were previously directly under the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the Chief Content Officer (CCO) organization, have been placed under the Consumer Division.

Lee Won-hee, LG Uplus’ HR and Business Partner (HRBP) officer, stated, “We aim to make 2025 a new starting point for growth by securing digital competitiveness in our core telecommunications business and laying the foundation for future growth.”
