**LG Innotek’s Vehicle Wi-Fi 7 Communication Module**
**To be Supplied Globally to Major Automakers**
Speed Improved by Three Times Compared to Previous Generation
LG Innotek announced on the 20th that it will supply its “Vehicle Wi-Fi 7 Communication Module,” which supports communication three times faster than existing technologies, to major European automotive parts companies. The order amounts to approximately 100 billion KRW and supply is set to begin next year. The module will be installed in the complete vehicles of global companies that are customers of LG Innotek.
Vehicle Wi-Fi is a component that provides communication services necessary for features like Audio/Video/Network (AVN) in automobiles. The new Wi-Fi 7 has a channel bandwidth of 320 MHz, which is twice as wide as the current Wi-Fi 6E, enabling data transmission speeds more than three times faster.
Additionally, LG Innotek has enhanced the Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) technology in its vehicle Wi-Fi 7 communication module, which converts digital signals to analog and transmits them wirelessly. This advancement increases the data that can be processed in one signal transmission by 20% compared to previous versions. With Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology, the module minimizes signal loss and Wi-Fi disruptions.
The product is durable enough to withstand temperature variations ranging from -40°C to 105°C. It is resistant to warping due to heat generated during large content transfers or low temperatures from being parked outside in winter. Despite incorporating over 150 components, including Qualcomm’s communication chips, the module has been miniaturized to a size one-sixth of a credit card.
LG Innotek plans to expand the supply of Wi-Fi 7 communication modules to different vehicle communication services beyond AVN, such as rear seat entertainment (RSE) systems, telematics control units (TCUs), and digital control units (DCUs). According to market research firm Global Market Insights, the vehicle Wi-Fi market is expected to grow from 20.9 billion USD (approximately 31 trillion KRW) this year to 47.7 billion USD (approximately 70.6 trillion KRW) by 2035.
President of LG Innotek, Moon Hyuk-soo, commented, “With vehicle application processor (AP) module sales expected to start in earnest from the fourth quarter of this year, mobility solution sales are projected to increase by 20% annually, accelerating growth. We will continue to lead the market by introducing innovative solutions that offer a differentiated driving experience.”
