The movie “Big Family” is a family comedy that unfolds as adorable grandchildren, never seen before, visit the owner (played by Kim Yoon-seok) of the dumpling restaurant “Pyeongmanok,” whose family line is about to end because of his son (played by Lee Seung-gi), who became a monk. The film has been showcasing the unique appeal of being the only family comedy this winter, and Lee Seung-gi’s transformation is causing a stir just as much as Kim Yoon-seok’s role. Lee Seung-gi has gained a lot of praise from audiences for his courageous decision to shave his head for the role of the head monk. His character, Ham Moon-seok, is the son of Pyeongmanok’s owner, who cuts ties with his father to become a monk. While enjoying great popularity as a superstar head monk, he becomes the center of a shocking scandal when it is broadcast nationwide on a Buddhist radio show that he has a hidden child.
Director Yang Woo-seok explained the casting, saying, “To portray the character of Ham Moon-seok, who is referred to as the ultimate perfect guy, we needed an actor who is intelligent, good-looking, smart, tall, and perfect in many other ways. Lee Seung-gi was the first actor who came to mind.”
