Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, will have a dinner meeting with former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, who is considered a potential presidential candidate from the non-Lee Jae-myung faction, at a restaurant in Seoul this evening (24th).
Following meetings with former South Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Kyoung-soo on the 13th and former lawmaker Park Yong-jin on the 21st, this meeting with former Prime Minister Kim seems to be an effort to expedite integrative moves.
Particular attention is drawn to what discussions will be had between the two since a recent internal debate in the party was sparked when former Prime Minister Kim criticized Lee’s remarks on the party’s identity as being “central to conservative,” labeling them as “undemocratic and historically overstepping.”
Lee plans to meet with former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok on the 27th and Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon on the 28th.
Additionally, Lee will pay courtesy visits to Ven. Jinwoo, the General Director of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and Ven. Sangjin, the General Director of the Taego Order, followed by an appearance on the YouTube channel “Samporo TV” in the afternoon.
