**Police Conduct Phone Forensics… Additional Charges Possible**
In the first trial, a 40-year-old professional man caught prostituting with teenagers despite knowing he had AIDS claimed that “AIDS has a low transmission risk.”
The Gwangju District Court’s 11th Criminal Division (Presiding Judge Ko Sang-young) held the first hearing on the 6th for Kim (49), who was charged with statutory rape of a minor.
Kim was charged with luring middle school student A, whom he met through a chatting app, into his car for multiple acts of prostitution since the beginning of the year.
Although Kim was an AIDS carrier, investigators found that A was not infected.
During the hearing, Kim admitted to the charges but argued that the possibility of AIDS transmission was low, stating, “Since learning of my infection in 2006, I’ve been taking medication and using condoms during intercourse.”
The court also revealed that police are continuing investigations, including forensic analysis of Kim’s mobile phone, raising the possibility of additional charges.
The trial is set to continue on December 20 at 10:30 AM in Courtroom 302 of the Gwangju District Court.
