The original series “Yumi’s Cells” season 3 is entering full-scale production. The title role actress, Kim Go-eun, who starred in seasons 1 and 2, is expected to return.
An industry insider reported to JTBC Entertainment News on the 31st that “Yumi’s Cells” season 3 is being produced three years after the end of season 2. The production is being pursued vigorously within TVING, and Kim Go-eun is set to return as the main character. Efforts are being made to maintain the unique tone of the series.
Regarding this, Studio Dragon, the production company of the “Yumi’s Cells” series, confirmed, “It is true that we are producing season 3. We have offered the role of the protagonist, Yumi, to Kim Go-eun, and she is currently reviewing it.” Kim Go-eun’s agency, BH Entertainment, also stated, “It is a project under review after receiving the offer.”
“Yumi’s Cells” is a romance drama that portrays the ordinary life of Yumi as she eats, loves, and grows with her cells. The show was the first drama to combine live-action with 3D animation, capturing the essence of the original webtoon with excitement, empathy, and cuteness. It received significant acclaim, achieving success both domestically and globally.
Season 2 offered new enjoyment by actively adapting the original work, compared to season 1. In season 3, it is expected that Reindeer, Yumi’s final romantic interest that original fans have been eagerly anticipating, will make an appearance, heightening expectations.
