Kia unveils the real ‘traditional pickup’ Tasman military command vehicle for the first time [ADEX 2025]

Next-Generation Medium Standard Vehicles · Multipurpose Light Tactical Vehicles Also Exhibited

Goyang, Yonhap News – Reporter Lim Seong-ho: Kia announced on the 20th that it would showcase various military vehicles, including the Tasman military command vehicle, at the ‘Seoul ADEX 2025’ Business Day, the largest defense industry exhibition in Korea, held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Celebrating its 15th iteration this year, the Seoul ADEX 2025 brings together over 600 companies from 35 countries worldwide to showcase cutting-edge technologies and equipment related to aerospace and the defense industry.

At this exhibition, Kia will unveil the actual Tasman military command vehicle for the first time.

The Tasman military command vehicle is a vehicle designed to enhance operational capabilities by equipping radios and antennas, built on the off-road performance and safety and convenience features characteristic of a classic pickup. Last month, it was selected as the standard command pickup for the Korean military and will be deployed in the field within this year.

Additionally, Kia will display the next-generation medium standard vehicle (KMTV · Kia Medium Tactical Vehicle) introduced in June this year.

This vehicle demonstrates excellent rugged terrain performance, including crossing streams 1 meter deep, driving on a 60% longitudinal incline and a 40% slope, electromagnetic wave shielding design, starting at minus 32 degrees Celsius, transport of up to 25 personnel or 10 tons of cargo, and more.

Furthermore, Kia will present various light tactical vehicles (KLTV · Kia Light Tactical Vehicle) designed for different military uses, including a ‘four-seater cargo’ capable of loading goods, a ‘drone transport vehicle’ supporting expanded reconnaissance capabilities, and an ‘AI patrol vehicle’ for monitoring dangerous areas without location restrictions.

Kia’s light tactical vehicles are currently operated worldwide, including by the Korean military, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. Recently, they have been selected as the new standard vehicles for the Polish military.

Kia will also exhibit the bear chassis of Tasman and medium standard vehicles, which include only the frame and engine, allowing for various productions, five special-purpose Tasman derived vehicles (operation command vehicle, two types of cargo, tanker, refrigerated vehicle), medium tactical vehicles equipped with bulletproof panels, and a model of the heavy standard vehicle (KHTV · Kia Heavy Tactical Vehicle) under development to carry loads over 25 tons.

A Kia representative stated, “We will continue to present a future vision for military mobility.”
