(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong Kyu-bin = The video showing the Kia pickup truck Tasman driving through an extreme off-road course in Australia is drawing attention.
According to the industry on the 4th, the ‘Team Brie’s Offroad’ YouTube channel recently posted a video of the Tasman climbing ‘Beer O’clock Hill’, an off-road dedicated course in Queensland, Australia.
Beer O’clock Hill, known as ‘the Everest of four-wheel-drive vehicles’, is characterized by a steep slope of 50 degrees and 100 meters in length, comprising a mix of rocks, mud, and puddles.
In the video, although one of Tasman’s wheels was lifted due to rocky structures, it soon regained balance and adeptly navigated the terrain without wheel spins.
After the climb, the lower part of the Tasman had some scratches, but there was no damage to major components like the CV joint, tie rod, and fuel tank.
Australian automotive magazine ‘4X4’ stated, “This proves that the Tasman’s performance was not overhyped,” and added, “It will establish itself as an excellent competitor model for Australian consumers looking for genuine off-road performance.”
Another expert magazine ‘Drive’ also noted, “Kia has registered itself as a brand that challenged one of the most difficult off-road hills in Australia, Beer O’clock Hill,” and said, “This demonstrated Kia’s capability to Australian consumers.”
The Tasman is Kia’s first authentic pickup, equipped with several off-road-specific features like X-Trek mode and ground view monitor.
