Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) stated today (the 7th) in relation to the Czech court’s injunction decision prohibiting the nuclear power plant contract, “We respect the Czech legal procedures and will faithfully comply with all relevant regulations.”

KHNP expressed, “We believe the bidding process for the new nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic was conducted fairly, transparently, and legally under the supervision of the Czech government, CEZ, and the contracting authority (EDUII). We are very regretful of the ongoing efforts by competitors to undermine the bidding result despite the first-instance and final dismissal decisions by the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (UOHS).”

KHNP added, “We plan to actively collaborate with the Czech side to protect our qualifications and interests related to the final contract signing.”

The Brno District Court in the Czech Republic issued an injunction decision on the 6th (local time), prohibiting the final contract signing between KHNP and the contracting authority, a CEZ subsidiary, until a ruling is made on the administrative lawsuit filed by EDF, which was eliminated from the bid competition for the construction of two new Dukovany reactors, one day before the scheduled final contract signing for KHNP’s new nuclear construction project.
