Kakao Cloud emphasizes “Equipped with technology to provide secure financial cloud” at developer conference.

Kakao Enterprise is participating in the “If Kakao” developer conference at the Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on the 24th, introducing cloud technology applicable to the finance sector under the theme of “AI Finance Tech.”

Lee Eohyung, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Kakao Enterprise, presented on the capabilities of the integrated cloud platform “Kakao Cloud” with the subject “Beyond the Cloud.”

CTO Lee explained, “Despite being a latecomer among domestic cloud service providers (CSPs), we offer high-quality services based on Kakao’s long-standing technological expertise. We have successfully addressed challenges faced by domestic CSPs and implemented a more robust and stable cloud.”

He divided the strengths of Kakao Cloud into four elements: high performance, reliability and scalability, thorough security, and competitive AI engineering.

CTO Lee stated, “In the cloud, the performance of VM (virtual machines), networks, and storage based on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is crucial.”

To achieve this, Kakao Cloud has closely collaborated with global semiconductor company AMD to develop its proprietary high-density servers and is continually advancing them. They also co-developed a smart network interface card, “SmartNIC,” to significantly enhance cloud performance.

Kakao Cloud provides service stability and scalability through multiple availability zones (multi AZ) and transit gateway (TGW), ensuring disaster resilience with physically separated regions and multi AZ. This setup allows workload distribution across more than one data center, minimizing service impact even if an issue arises in a single availability zone.

TGW connects clouds and on-premises environments, ensuring fast communication speed and high infrastructure scalability.

CTO Lee emphasized, “With multi AZ and TGW, we can connect and manage not only private cloud environments and on-premises settings for financial institutions but also other companies’ clouds. The high stability and scalability provided by Kakao Cloud facilitate seamless hybrid and multi-cloud strategies.”

In November last year, Kakao Cloud successfully completed the “CSP Safety Evaluation” conducted by the Financial Security Institute and obtained the Ministry of Science and ICT’s cloud service security certification (CSAP) and ISMS certification. They possess various domestic and international cloud security certifications for data and information protection, such as international standard verification for Information Security Management Systems (ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018, 27701, 27799) and international Cloud Security Alliance certification (CSA STAR: Gold), proving their security.

CTO Lee stated, “Security is the top priority in financial clouds,” further emphasizing, “We have received top-level evaluations for our thorough security from various certification and audit bodies, focusing on operating safe services.”

At the If Kakao developer conference, Kakao Enterprise runs an exhibition zone to directly experience their AI contact center “Centerflow” and the AI-based work productivity solution “Koworker” (tentative name) that operates on Kakao Cloud.

The Kakao Cloud Koworker quickly processes repetitive tasks, learns desired data, and provides customized information. In the exhibition zone, participants can experience Koworker’s beta service, which encompasses nine categories such as meeting summaries, task searches, life hacks, technical documents, Salesforce, and health-related information.
