Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that it will provide greater accommodation discount benefits compared to other regions during the ‘Second Half Accommodation Sale Festa’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization starting from the 20th.
This decision comes as a result of Jeollanam-do’s persistent requests to the National Assembly and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to expand the designation of ‘special disaster areas’ to aid in the recovery of tourism in the region, which has been in decline since the December 29 airplane disaster.
During this accommodation sale festival, while general non-metropolitan areas offer a discount of KRW 30,000 for accommodation fees over KRW 70,000 and KRW 20,000 for fees below that amount, Jeollanam-do will expand the discounts to KRW 50,000 and KRW 30,000, respectively.
Discount vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, one per person, through 40 participating online travel agencies starting from 10 AM on the 20th. Reservations and payments must be completed by 7 AM the following day.
Yoo Hyun-ho, Director of Tourism and Sports of Jeollanam-do, expressed hopes that these benefits, applicable throughout Jeollanam-do, will significantly contribute to the recovery of the local economy. He also invited people to enjoy a unique travel experience in Jeollanam-do, filled with attractions and culinary delights, during events such as the upcoming International Ink Art Biennale and Namdo International Culinary Industry Expo this fall.
