International Korea Forum US Seminar: Discussion on the Impact of Trump’s North Korea Policy

“[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Nam Bitnara: The Ministry of Unification announced on the 19th that it will hold the ‘2024 Global Korean Forum (GKF)’ U.S. seminar in Washington D.C. on the 20th.

GKF is an expanded and developed version of the ‘Korean Peninsula International Forum,’ a 1.5-track (semi-governmental) international conference that the Ministry of Unification has been hosting annually since 2010.

The GKF U.S. seminar is the first one to be held abroad, following the inaugural seminar in Seoul.

This seminar will focus on the theme ‘Triangular Cooperation and the Korean Peninsula: The Partnership of Korea, the U.S., and Japan,’ and will include discussions on ▲the impact of the U.S. presidential election on Korean Peninsula unification and North Korea policy ▲sanctions and deterrence against North Korea ▲access to information in North Korea and North Korean human rights.

The Ministry of Unification stated, ‘At this point when the U.S. presidential election has just ended, we will explore the direction of the North Korea policy under President Donald Trump’s new administration and Korea’s response strategy to it.'”
