The third phase project includes adding three exhibition halls and expanding retail facilities by 50% on the existing outdoor parking lot site of Songdo Convensia, with the structure extending from an underground floor to four above-ground floors, covering a total area of 14,000 square meters. The total project cost is expected to reach 311.7 billion KRW.

Last year, the exhibition hall utilization rate at Songdo Convensia reached 59%, nearing full capacity utilization, which is considered 60% by the exhibition industry due to preparation, dismantling periods, and holiday considerations. This marks a 2 percentage point increase compared to 2024, representing the best performance since the opening of the second phase in 2018.

Annually, the number of visitors reached 1.06 million, with about 54,000 foreign visitors, indicating a 30.3% increase compared to the previous year.

There were a total of 1,033 exhibition and conference events held. Notably, the “2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Senior Officials’ Meeting” was successfully conducted, with international conferences totaling 196, marking a 263% increase from the previous year. Major and strategic exhibitions, such as the “100th Anniversary Exhibition of the Korean Dental Association,” “World Korean Business Convention,” and “HIROX Incheon,” along with themed exhibitions linked to Incheon’s strategic and foundational industries, were also held.

The economic impact of these events at Songdo Convensia is estimated to be a production inducement effect of 581.2 billion KRW and an employment inducement effect of 6,237 jobs.

Songdo Convensia, which first opened in 2008, has expanded to a total area of 117,163 square meters following a second phase construction. It currently houses four exhibition halls, 35 small to medium-sized meeting rooms, and two large conference rooms (Premium Ballroom and Grand Ballroom) that can accommodate up to 1,800 people.

Hong Jun-ho, acting director (deputy director) of Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, stated, “The outstanding results achieved by Songdo Convensia last year are a clear signal that Incheon is emerging as a global MICE hub,” adding that “we will successfully carry out the third phase project to develop Songdo Convensia into a world-class MICE platform.”
