In Yo-han: “I tried to reconcile Yoon and Han Dong-hoon but failed… It will be difficult for him to be a presidential candidate.”

[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Choi Hee-jung: Regarding former People Power Party representative Han Dong-hoon, who recently resumed his political activities, People Power Party lawmaker In Yo-han said, “I tried very hard to reconcile him with President Yoon Seok-yeol, but failed,” adding that “it is realistically difficult for him to return.”

Appearing on YTN Radio’s ‘News Fighting’ on the 11th, Representative In stated, “Alexander the Great left a famous saying that one should conquer the world and then win the hearts of the subordinates. While lawmakers aren’t Han Dong-hoon’s subordinates, those hearts should have been won, but he left during that situation,” pointing this out.

When asked by the host if it’s difficult for former representative Han to become a presidential candidate if an early presidential election were held, Representative In responded, “As of now, it seems there are various difficulties.”

Regarding President Yoon’s emergency martial law declaration on December 3 last year, Representative In said, “I understand it emotionally, but I don’t agree with the method.”

He added, “Emotionally, because President Yoon had been so tormented by the opposition, when they paralyzed the government by slashing the entire budget, it seems the president made an extreme choice. People have certainly become aware of it through that,” but added, “however, well… I still feel like crying.”

On the outlook of the Constitutional Court’s impeachment trial results, Representative In remarked, “I think too much pressure on the judiciary is not good,” and “the beauty of the separation of powers should return to each role, but when the Democratic Party of Korea talks about impeaching prosecutors, judges, and what shocked me the most was during the impeachment of the Prime Minister.”

[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Ko Seung-min: On the 10th, People Power Party Congressman In Yo-han and Korean Medical Association Vice President Hwang Kyu-seok left the office of People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Young-se in Yeouido, Seoul, after a meeting regarding medical school quotas. 2025.03.10. Representative In commented, “Prime Minister Han was the Prime Minister during the Roh Moo-hyun era. He is someone who knows both ruling and opposition parties well and is a talent for the country. I even sent a text to the highest-ranking official not to impeach him, and they called me a conspirator of rebellion. They also insulted my family. It’s fine to curse me, but it was quite shocking.”

He further expressed urgency about the relationship with the U.S., stating, “Our opponent is not the Democratic Party. Our opponent is the U.S., and also North Korea. It’s the world.” He lamented, “The Democratic Party was originally a good party, although it has changed a lot now. We need to sit with the Democratic Party and discuss how to handle trade wars and deal with Trump.”

Representative In also criticized frequent impeachment actions, saying, “Yesterday again, another impeachment, and it’s become such a joke that when I meet friends in Jeolla-do they joke, ‘If you don’t listen, we’ll have a special prosecutor,’ or ‘if you don’t listen, we’ll impeach you.'”

He added, “Having gone through this around 30 times, this eventually goes beyond our National Assembly and damages the separation of powers concerning the judiciary and presidency. Although I am part of the People Power Party, I respect former President Kim Dae-jung. I wish to see politics like when he invited former Presidents Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo to his inauguration.”
