“In response to the fallout from Yoon’s leaked recordings, Hong Joon-pyo said, ‘It feels just like the eve of impeachment… Park Geun-hye fell because of this as well.'”

Amidst the Democratic Party’s revelation of a recorded conversation purportedly between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Mr. Myung Tae-kyun, Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, remarked, “It feels like a déjà vu of the eve of impeachment.”

On the 31st, Mayor Hong mentioned on social media, “That’s why (former President) Park Geun-hye ended up leaving,” echoing these sentiments.

He criticized, “A meddlesome election broker, trying to evade imprisonment, is causing a stir, and the opposition is fixated on attacking the president. Meanwhile, the ruling party seems nonexistent, preoccupied only with internal power struggles.”

He added, “Gathering a handful of political washouts to engage in internal squabbling, but he’s still a president that we produced, whether we like it or not.”

Previously, on this day, Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, held an urgent press conference at the National Assembly, releasing a voice file alleged to be a conversation between President Yoon and Mr. Myung Tae-kyun.

According to the voice file released by the Democratic Party, President Yoon is heard saying, “Since Kim Young-seon has been working hard since the primaries, I suggested giving him some help, but there’s a lot of talk about it within the party.” In response, Mr. Myung reportedly replies, “I will never forget your grace for the rest of my life. Thank you.”
