Hyundai Motor Company to participate in the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show… Unveiling the new Nexo for the first time globally

Hyundai’s Innovations at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show

On April 3rd, at the event held at KINTEX, Ilsan, Hyundai presented its booth where President Muñoz stated, “Innovating future mobility with Hyundai’s DNA.” The company introduced the new IONIQ 6 and Insteroid.

At the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, Hyundai globally unveiled the new hydrogen electric vehicle (FCEV) ‘The all-new NEXO’ and the dedicated electric vehicle ‘The new IONIQ 6’ for the first time.

In addition, the event showcased the electric concept car ‘Insteroid’, along with a lineup of hydrogen electric, electric, hybrid, and high-performance N electric vehicles, completing what Hyundai calls its “full lineup of eco-friendly vehicles.”

Jose Muñoz, Hyundai’s CEO, emphasized in his announcement, “We will continue innovating future mobility based on Hyundai’s DNA,” pledging to lead the era of electrification with high-quality and customer-focused product lines.

The most eye-catching model is the new hydrogen electric car, the all-new NEXO. This fully revamped model is the first update since its initial launch in March 2018. Built upon last year’s hydrogen electric concept car ‘Initium’, it incorporates Hyundai’s new design language, ‘Art of Steel.’

Features such as daytime running lights (DRL) and rear combination lamps embody the hydrogen molecule formula (H2) and Hyundai Group’s hydrogen business brand ‘HTWO’ symbol. The interior includes padded patterns, a driver-focused panoramic curved display, and integrated digital side mirrors (DSM) on the crash pad side, enhancing practicality and openness.

With an 80mm extended rear overhang compared to the previous model, the all-new NEXO secures a 510L (VDA standard) luggage space that can accommodate up to four golf bags.

Performance improvements enable acceleration from 0km/h to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds. With a short charging time of about five minutes, it is expected to travel over 700km. (Exact range per charge will be announced later based on Hyundai labs measurements with 18-inch tires). A ‘Route Planner’ provides real-time hydrogen charging infrastructure information from 212 stations nationwide, offering optimal routes to charging stations.

Jung Yoo-suk, head of Hyundai’s Domestic Business Division, stated, “We aim to realize a future where everyone can travel freely in clean air, advancing alongside our customers.”

Hyundai also unveiled the design of the new IONIQ 6 and the IONIQ 6 N Line worldwide for the first time.

The new IONIQ 6, a facelifted model launched in September 2022, upholds the ‘Electrified Streamliner’ concept, a hallmark of Hyundai’s electrification era but boasts more attractive curves and beautiful proportions.

Simon Loasby, head of Hyundai’s Design Center, stated that “The IONIQ 6 started as one ‘Electrified Streamliner’ and has now expanded into a model lineup with distinct personalities.” Under the evolved design concept, ‘Pure Flow, Refined’, the design details of the IONIQ 6 have been refined in a more advanced direction.

The interior design of the new IONIQ 6 maintains the ‘Mindful Cocoon’ concept, focusing on comfort and an intuitive user experience. The layout of center console components has been refined to enhance user utilization and convenience, while door trim materials have adopted the IMG (In-Mold Grain) method, used in the production of premium interior materials to elevate quality.

The event also unexpectedly showcased a teaser for the ‘IONIQ 6 N’. The Insteroid, simultaneously revealed, is a concept car created by Hyundai’s European Design Center, leading Hyundai’s electrification transition as a compact SUeV, based on the ‘Casper Electric’ and inspired by gaming with its unique design.

Hyundai prepared the largest display space for this event among participating brands, covering 2,600㎡ (approximately 787 pyeong). The exhibition features ‘Water Drop’ visualizing pure water flow and ‘Air Flow’ representing pure air flow.

The venue consists of four themed zones: the ‘H2 Zone,’ inspired by water, the only by-product of hydrogen; the ‘EV Zone,’ delivering a comprehensive electrification experience from purchase to service, charging, and disposal; the ‘Lineup Zone,’ announcing the completion of Hyundai’s eco-friendly vehicle lineup; and the ‘Hyundai Store,’ showcasing various customization products including N, Casper, and Hyundai Collection.

Notably, the H2 Zone spotlighted ‘Waste to Hydrogen’ technology, generating hydrogen from organic waste like food waste, sludge, and livestock manure, presented through interactive media content titled ‘My Useful Journey’.

A Hyundai representative expressed hope that the exhibitions and experiential elements focused on hydrogen and electrification at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show Hyundai Pavilion would be an opportunity to resonate with Hyundai’s current and future direction.
