Hyundai Mobis Implements Career Transition Support Program for Production Workers… Expanded Following Office Workers Last Year

Lee Kyuseok, the president of Hyundai Mobis, presented the company’s business direction and strategy at the ‘2024 CEO Investor Day’ held last month at the Fairmont Hotel in Yeouido.

For the first time, Hyundai Mobis is implementing a job transition support program for production workers, which is similar to a voluntary retirement program. According to an announcement on the 4th, Hyundai Mobis, with labor and management agreement, is recruiting participants for this program from last month until the 16th for production workers aged 50 and above. Those who participate can receive a job transition allowance that is calculated by multiplying half of the remaining period until retirement by their annual salary, up to 10 million won for career development expenses, and up to 30 million won for children’s education expenses (10 million won per child). The program also offers education for post-retirement activities such as career transition, entrepreneurship, or rest.

A Hyundai Mobis representative stated, “This is a support program to assist employees with gaining new life experiences, which recently became a social interest. The program expanded its target after receiving positive feedback from its implementation last year for middle-aged managerial positions.” Early last year, Hyundai Mobis operated the ‘Restart Program’ for office workers aged 50 and above to help them prepare for a second life.

Previously, Hyundai Motor and Kia introduced a similar program for managerial employees aged 55 and above in 2018. From 2022, Hyundai Motor also started the ‘Career Consulting Support System,’ a regular career transition program for employees in their 50s.
