(Seoul=News1) Yang Saerom Reporter = Hwang Hyun-sik, who is leaving LG Uplus (032640), told employees that he would “support the journey ahead toward greater heights.”

On the 26th, according to LG Uplus, Hwang sent an internal email on the day of his resignation, November 21st, saying, “I am now leaving LG Uplus, where I spent nearly half of my life,” expressing this farewell.

Hwang stated, “It has been a great honor to be part of the team growing the company through challenges like the IMT-2000 (3G) setback, overcoming the ensuing major crisis, achieving 6 million subscribers, merging with three companies, advancing through LTE, and reaching second place in mobile lines.”

He continued, “Our company may be third in the market, but we are number one in terms of people. We have reached this position purely through the strength of our people. I leave with a strong belief that eventually, we will be number one,” he emphasized.

He also added, “I want to thank everyone who has been with me, and I look forward to the day LG Uplus grows continuously and stands tall as number one,” cheering for their future.

Hwang was the first CEO from within LG Uplus, leading the company since 2021. He achieved significant managerial successes such as surpassing 1 trillion won in operating profit for the first time since the company’s founding. Although he secured reappointment as CEO last November, he is stepping down after just one year.
