Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LG Uplus, Receives ‘Alumnus of the Year Award’ from KAIST College of Engineering

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Cho Hyun-young = LG Uplus announced on the 19th that CEO Hwang Hyun-sik has been selected as the ‘2024 Alumnus of the Year’ by the College of Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

CEO Hwang obtained his master’s degree in industrial engineering from KAIST in 1987.

The College of Engineering at KAIST stated that the reason for his selection was his stable leadership in the wired and wireless communications business at LG Uplus, achieving an operating profit of 1 trillion won in 2022, and surpassing 20 million wireless subscribers last year.

The award ceremony will be held at the KAIST main campus in Daejeon on the afternoon of the 21st. There, CEO Hwang will deliver an acceptance speech on the theme of ‘Leadership Focused on Customers, Cooperation, and People.’

The KAIST Alumnus of the Year Award was established in 2014 and is given to alumni who have contributed to industrial technological advancement or have enhanced the school’s honor through academic achievements.
