“Homeland: ‘Our candidate and policies are better than the Democratic Party'”… Swinging voter sentiment in Jeonnam

On the 29th, at a workshop for lawmakers of the Justice Party held at Hotel The Star in Yeonggwang-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, party leader Jo Guk delivered a welcoming message. The Justice Party expressed its determination to focus on the local elections in Jeollanam-do where a by-election is scheduled for October, even hinting at a campaign promising improvement in rental housing conditions. Jo Guk, the leader of the Justice Party, emphasized the party’s intention to concentrate its efforts on the local elections, stating, “We believe that our candidates and policies are better than those of the Democratic Party” and announced plans to unveil tailored campaign promises for the by-elections before the Chuseok holiday.

Regarding concerns about divisions within the progressive camp raised by Democratic Party lawmaker Park Ji-won, Jo Guk responded by saying, “It is not appropriate to talk about the presidential election at this moment. There is no need to bring up the presidential election in the local elections.” Furthermore, he emphasized the common goal of “regime change” with the Democratic Party, highlighting that healthy competition between the two parties can strengthen the non-Democratic camp and ultimately lead to regime change in the presidential election.

Jo Guk and other lawmakers are scheduled to have a meeting with farmers, party members, and others in Gokseong, Jeollanam-do, on the following day, the 30th.
