High-performance PHEV version of the E-Class… ‘AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+’ Released.

Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 19th the launch of the high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model of the luxury business sedan E-Class, the “Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+.”

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ combines AMG’s dynamic driving performance and sporty design with a PHEV system for efficiency. The vehicle features a 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder gasoline turbo engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a system output of up to 585 horsepower and a system torque of up to 750 Nm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The engine alone produces 449 horsepower, an increase of 14 horsepower compared to the previous generation (W213). The electric motor not only supports pure electric driving but also provides additional power to the engine, delivering a robust torque of 480 Nm from the start for both high efficiency and powerful driving performance.

In electric mode, the vehicle can travel 66 km (according to domestic certification) purely on electric power, with a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Additionally, it supports four regenerative braking modes, allowing for a variety of driving feels from internal combustion engine-like to one-pedal driving in the strongest regenerative braking mode. The vehicle has obtained low-emission vehicle tier 2 certification, offering benefits like reduced congestion charges and parking fees in public car parks.

The vehicle’s unique AMG-developed driving experience is enhanced with advanced technology. The newly improved ‘AMG Ride Control’ with adaptive adjustable damping and steel spring suspension adjusts each wheel’s damping according to driving conditions and road surfaces, providing both dynamism and excellent ride comfort. The rear axle steering feature helps maneuver the vehicle more agilely by steering the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees.

The external design includes an AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical louvers and illuminated features as standard. Compared to the regular E-Class, the front fenders are wider, offering a more robust impression when viewed from the front.

Inside, the vehicle comes equipped with an MBUX Superscreen and a harmoniously designed interior. The AMG sports seats made with AMG Nappa leather feature AMG emblems and logos on the headrests and backrests, with red seat belts and stitching adding vibrant accents.

Additionally, an automated vehicle setting routine based on the third-generation MBUX infotainment system is provided, allowing access to diverse third-party applications like YouTube, Zoom, Angry Birds, TikTok, and T-map Auto via in-car data without mobile tethering.

The vehicle is also equipped with the latest driving assistance system, the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which includes features such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC that maintains distance and automatically adjusts speed, brakes, and restarts, and Active Steering Assist that detects lanes via a stereo camera mounted on the front windshield.

Moreover, the vehicle comes standard with options preferred by domestic customers, including a head-up display, Burmester® 4D surround sound system, active ambient lighting with sound visualization, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front seat wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, hands-free access, electric trunk, and toll collection systems.

The price of the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ is set at 138,860,000 KRW (including VAT).
