Heavy rainfall expands nationwide… up to 120mm until tomorrow [Weather]

Heavy rainfall is expected to expand back to the entire country during the morning, with many areas continuing to experience strong downpours. Let’s find out more about the detailed monsoon situation and forecast by connecting to the weather center.

Yang Taebin, please tell us.

Currently, heavy rainfall in Seoul is subsiding, but showers still linger in many parts south of Chungcheong. Since yesterday (8th), significant rainfall exceeding 200mm has been recorded in Andong, and over 150mm in Daegu for the past two days. Heavy rain of around 20mm per hour is still pouring in North Jeolla and North Gyeongsang provinces. Consequently, heavy rain warnings and advisories are in effect.

As the monsoon front fluctuates, the central regions that are currently experiencing lighter rainfall will gradually see an increase in precipitation once again. Especially from tonight, rainfall will intensify in the capital region and Chungnam, and early tomorrow morning, it will get heavier in other inland areas. This rainfall is expected to continue until tomorrow, with accumulations reaching over 120mm. There is a high possibility that the heaviest downpours of up to 50mm per hour will occur during the vulnerable nighttime hours.

Due to the already weakened ground from the heavy rain, please be cautious and mindful of safety precautions. Although this heavy rainfall is expected to temporarily subside the day after tomorrow, scattered showers are forecasted for inland areas. The southern regions will see rainfall starting again from Friday.
