[Washington=Newsis] Reporter Lee Yoon-hee = As support for U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris seems to be waning, former President Barack Obama and his wife will participate in their first joint campaign with Harris.
According to CNN and others on the 24th (local time), Harris will attend and speak at an election event in Clarkston, Georgia, on the afternoon of the same day, where former President Obama is also expected to attend.
This joint campaign with Obama and Harris will be their first. Since the 10th, former President Obama has been touring battleground states, providing support for Harris and other Democratic candidates.
Harris is expected to focus on drawing in the votes of Black voters by appearing on stage hand in hand with former President Obama.
There have been ongoing analyses that Harris is not receiving sufficient support from Black voters, particularly Black men, compared to other Democratic presidents.
The event will also be attended by notable figures from the film industry such as director Spike Lee, actor Samuel L. Jackson, and singer Bruce Springsteen.
Georgia, one of the seven battleground states, has already reported that around 2.1 million people have participated in early voting as of the morning prior, accounting for approximately 30% of total voters.
Meanwhile, Harris will campaign on the 26th in Michigan, another battleground state, where Michelle Obama is expected to join her.
Michelle Obama gave a speech in support of Harris at the Democratic National Convention in August but will be participating in a campaign rally for the first time.
