Hanwha Ocean secures additional contract for two LNG carriers… Orders this year double last year’s

**Hanwha Ocean Secures Orders for Two LNG Carriers Worth 713.5 Billion Won, Totaling 11 Trillion Won in Orders for the Year**

Hanwha Ocean has announced that it has secured an order for two additional Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, adding to what has been a nearly double increase in aggressive orders compared to last year.

The company confirmed on the 11th that it has secured the contract for two LNG carriers from Maran Gas, a subsidiary of Greece’s largest shipping company, Angelicoussis Group, for a total of 713.5 billion won. The ships will be constructed at the Geoje shipyard in Gyeongnam and delivered to the owner by 2027. The deal also includes an option for two additional vessels, suggesting potential future orders.

The newly ordered LNG carriers are large vessels, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, and are equipped with Hanwha Ocean’s renowned ME-GI natural gas propulsion engines and a full re-liquefaction system (FRS). These features significantly increase fuel efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions compared to conventional LNG carriers. Furthermore, the ships will incorporate Hanwha Ocean’s latest eco-friendly technologies, such as the Air Lubrication System (ALS) and Shaft Generator Motor System (SGM) as part of their smart energy-saving system.

Angelicoussis Group has been a major client of Hanwha Ocean since 1994, commissioning a total of 123 ships worth over 20 trillion won, equating to 15 billion dollars. A representative from Hanwha Ocean commented, “Our 30-year partnership is built on trust in our shipyard’s technological prowess, and we are committed to delivering ships of the highest quality.”

Hanwha Ocean’s orders for this year include 19 LNG carriers and LNG-FSRUs, 7 Very Large Crude Carriers, 6 container ships, 3 ammonia carriers, 1 offshore platform, and 3 special-purpose vessels, totaling 39 ships. This amounts to 7.87 billion dollars (10.96 trillion won), more than double the order value from last year (3.52 billion dollars).
