Former PPP leader Han Dong-hoon explained that the removal of his prosecutorial background in his book, which garnered attention, was because it was information already well-known to the public.
Kim Jong-hyuk, a former senior member of the pro-People Power Party faction, introduced Han’s book “Han Dong-hoon’s Choice – The People First” on the YTN Radio program “Shin Yul’s News Frontline” on the 20th.
He stated, “We started pre-orders at 10 a.m. on the 19th, and as of 4 p.m. on the same day, over 10,000 copies were sold and over 20,000 copies had been reserved by 4 p.m. today.”
Kim remarked, “Considering the sales volume and speed, it is selling more than any recent books by other politicians,” and said, “This is because Han has been vocal about ‘the People Power Party cannot continue as it is,’ ‘the conservative party cannot continue as it is,’ and ‘something needs to change.'”
He continued, “There is curiosity about how Han plans to change the conservative party, and what voice and vision he will advocate to transform South Korea.”
He further emphasized, “Although Han hasn’t been in the spotlight for a month or two, seeing the speed of book reservations, one can feel that people genuinely sense a need for change, sense a longing for generational shift and renewal, and this sentiment has manifested in the popular response to his book.”
The interviewer asked about the omission of Han’s prosecutor history in the author’s introduction.
To this, Kim replied, “When I phoned Han to ask about it, he was surprised and said, ‘There’s a news article about this?’ and explained that, given his reputation as a former Minister of Justice and the rumors of being ‘the best prosecutor in Korea,’ he thought it was obvious he was a prosecutor.”
Regarding any publication parties or book concerts, he stated, “We will not hold a publication party. Han requested during the 22nd general election that we all pledge that we would not hold a publication party, and that if any legal issues arise, we would return all parliamentary salaries even if we are elected.”
