On the 26th, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed a strong stance regarding the cancellation of the venue rental for YouTuber Jeon Han-gil’s “Yoon Again” concert, stating it was “a very natural measure.”

Governor Kim appeared on SBS Radio’s “Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show” and, when asked about the recent controversy over Mr. Jeon’s event cancellation, said, “It is allowed to cancel if it goes against social norms,” adding, “‘Yoon Again’ goes greatly against social norms.”

He argued, “Opposing illegal martial law and treason is common sense among the people, and a rally aiming to repeat such actions is inappropriate.”

He further emphasized, “The venue was initially requested as a ‘pure family cultural performance to honor the spirit of March 1st,’ but how can that event be considered a pure performance?” He criticized it as a contamination of the March 1st spirit and stated, “I cannot stand by and watch this.” Governor Kim criticized that it “crossed the line too much.”

Regarding real estate policy, he mentioned four rounds of government measures and evaluated, “We have harmoniously implemented measures to suppress speculation and expand supply at the right timing.” Gyeonggi Province announced a plan to supply 800,000 housing units the day after the government’s announcement on urban housing supply, with a significant portion planned for the metropolitan area. They are also pushing to supply 260,000 public rental homes.

Governor Kim stated, “I believe we can definitely win the war against real estate speculation this time and stabilize housing prices,” and declared, “Gyeonggi Province will actively support the government as its primary partner.”

Regarding recent housing price collusion observed in certain areas, he explained, “The Special Judicial Police caught such acts in Hanam, Seongnam, and Yongin, and the investigation has been expanded from the ringleaders to active participants.”

In relation to the public opinion poll where he ranked first among Democratic Party candidates for the next Gyeonggi gubernatorial election, he stated, “I think this reflects the perception of me as a ‘problem-solving worker’ while managing the provincial administration,” adding, “I will humbly approach it as public sentiment is supreme.”

When asked about the competition with opposition candidates, he remarked, “I don’t mind who runs,” but added, “I hope a rational and sensible person runs, not someone advocating for ‘Yoon Again.'”

Regarding the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster project, he emphasized, “Of course, we are proceeding as planned.” He explained that they proposed an underground cabling solution along local roads to avoid conflicts over power transmission towers, providing a resolution. He also announced plans to visit general and national industrial zones (Hynix and Samsung respectively) to inspect follow-up measures.

Governor Kim stated, “We have laid the groundwork to ensure the mega semiconductor cluster will be definitively promoted in Gyeonggi,” and promised to “create results with this solution.”
