[Herald Economy, Reporter Han Young-dae] GS Caltex announced on the 13th that it received the Gyeonggi Governor’s Commendation on the 63rd Fire Safety Day.
The commendation was awarded to GS Caltex for being the first domestic refinery to install EV-dedicated fire suppression equipment at four Energy Plus Hubs (Sambang, Naegok, Jukjeon, and Dalmaji), greatly contributing to enhancing community safety.
The fire suppression equipment introduced by GS Caltex immediately sprays water through a nozzle plate fixed under the electric vehicle being charged when a fire occurs, effectively preventing the spread of flames. It is designed to secure the golden time before the fire truck arrives by preventing the rapid temperature rise and combustion spread in the early stages of a fire.
GS Caltex optimized the equipment by assessing the water storage requirement, taking into account the location of each charging station and the arrival time of fire trucks, thereby establishing an EV fire response model suitable for urban charging station environments.
Cho Do-hyun, GS Caltex Mobility & Marketing Executive Director, stated, “The safety of our customers and community is the company’s top priority,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen our safety management system centered around Energy Plus Hubs and establish smarter and more reliable charging infrastructure.”
