‘ (Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yena – A space where you can see at a glance the history and culture of Godo (ancient capital) Iksan in Jeollabuk-do, where the breath of Baekje remains, will open its doors.’
” The National Heritage Administration announced on the 30th that it will open the ‘Godo Love Eyes Jeonbuk Iksan World Heritage Center’, a complex cultural space in Iksan, on the 1st of next month.”
‘ The center, constructed with a total of 19.8 billion won, is a building with 2 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground.’
‘ The site area is 13,171m², consisting of a World Heritage Promotion Hall, Godo Information Reading Room, community space, and visitor center.’
‘ An official from the National Heritage Administration explained, “It will introduce the history and culture information of the core relics of the Baekje Kingdom to visitors and will be used as a resting place for local residents.”‘
” On the opening day, Iksan City and Wonkwang University’s Mahan-Baekje Cultural Research Institute will hold an academic conference on ‘The Origin of Han (Korean) Culture in Iksan, Value Establishment and Utilization Methods’ at 3 PM.”
‘ It is a place to highlight Mahan culture, the foundation of Iksan’s Baekje culture.’
‘ Presentations on the characteristics of Mahan culture in the Mankyeong River Basin, the current status and value of Mahan culture in Iksan, and examples of preserving, repairing, and utilizing Iksan’s Mahan cultural heritage will be held.’
‘ The National Heritage Administration plans to sequentially construct World Heritage Centers in major ancient capitals in the future.’
” Starting from Iksan, the ‘Godo Love Eyes World Heritage Center’ will be set up in Buyeo in 2027, Gyeongju in 2028, and Gongju in 2029.”
