Former U.S. President Donald Trump, during a past White House meeting, discussed attacking North Korean troops during a military parade, as revealed by former White House National Security Advisor Herbert R. McMaster. According to CNN on the 25th, McMaster stated in his new book “Battlegrounds: The Fight to Defend the Free World” that serving as a national security advisor to the unpredictable president was the most challenging mission as a military officer. McMaster, a three-star general who served in the Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan War, also criticized Trump for his impulsive behavior and described White House meetings as a “competition of flattery.”
McMaster mentioned in his book that Trump made erratic comments such as “What if we just eliminate the entire North Korean military when they are parading?” and “What if we just bomb the drugs in Mexico?” McMaster’s book comes at a timely moment when many Americans are contemplating who would be a better commander-in-chief between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in the midst of the presidential race.
He further highlighted that there could be a dark outlook for the Trump administration if he were to return to power, based on the sharp criticisms of Trump by his predecessor John Bolton in his book and the revelations of the chaos and conflicts within the White House during Trump’s tenure. McMaster, along with Rex Tillerson, James Mattis, and John Kelly, played a role in controlling Trump’s tumultuous leadership as part of the administration’s “axis of adults.”
