[Ulsan=Newsis] Reporter Ahn Jung-seop = On the 5th, Ulsan City announced that Sinam and Nasa Ports in Ulsan’s Ulju County have been finally selected for the “Next Year’s New Vitality Promotion Project for Fishing Villages,” led by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF).
The New Vitality Promotion Project for Fishing Villages aims to improve the living and safety infrastructure of outdated fishing villages and ports and to invigorate regional fishing village economies, building on the successes of the previous Fishing Village New Deal and New Vitality Projects.
The project is customized into two categories, the Fishing Village Economic Leap and the Fishing Village Recovery, depending on the size and characteristics of the fishing village.
Sinam and Nasa Ports have been selected for the Fishing Village Recovery category, focusing on improving living conditions for local residents and restoring vitality to the fishing villages. Up to 10 billion won (70% national funding and 30% local funding) will be invested over four years until 2029. The expansion of life-related social overhead capital (SOC) and significant improvements in safety infrastructure are planned.
An Ulsan City official stated, “We will actively identify various projects to promote new vitality, such as creating marine-friendly areas and revitalizing fishing villages, in cooperation with districts and counties.”
