On that day, the economic six organizations stated, “As the opposition party declares its intention to pass the amendment to the labor union law in the plenary session of the National Assembly, concerns are growing in the industrial sector that it could lead to extinction.” They explained, “If the amendment unreasonably expands the scope of employers and subcontractor unions constantly demand collective bargaining with prime contractors, the industrial ecosystem between prime and subcontractors will collapse, and employees of cooperating companies may lose their jobs.”

Furthermore, they pointed out, “The majority of damages related to illegal collective bargaining activities are arising from violent occupation of the workplace. However, the amendment fails to address these issues to improve the law and instead practically blocks claims for damages related to illegal collective bargaining, thus promoting extreme illegal labor actions.”

Son Kyung-shik, Chairman of the FKI, stated, “We earnestly request that the amendment to the labor union law not be passed in the plenary session to allow our companies to conduct business normally.” He added, “Despite this appeal, if the opposition unilaterally passes the amendment to the labor union law, we sincerely request that the President exercise his veto power.”
