‘Every Night at Incheon FESTA’: Packed with Night Markets, Nighttime Markets, and Beer Parties

The nights in Incheon are expected to heat up further with the enthusiasm of tourists enjoying a variety of performances, food, and experience programs. Incheon City and the Tourism Corporation announced on the 18th that they will host the “Every Night Incheon FEST” from the 20th of this month to the 26th of next month, as part of the “Night Tourism Specialized City Development Project.”

Incheon was selected as the first “Night Tourism Specialized City” in South Korea in a competition by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2022. This year’s plans include connections to night markets and night parties, aiming to increase budget efficiency and maximize synergy. The city expects to attract 115,000 domestic tourists and 5,000 foreign tourists, anticipating an economic impact of approximately 16 billion KRW.

Specifically, the “1883 Imagination Platform Night Market” will be held twice at the Sangsang Platform’s Open Port Plaza, from the 20th to 22nd and from the 27th to 29th of this month. From 5 to 10 PM, there will be events like the Sangsang Cinema, a citizens’ singing contest, fusion Korean traditional music performances, busking, and a drone light show. Approximately 20 food booths and 10 food trucks will also be available, making it an event suitable for the entire family to enjoy.

The Wolmi Island and Open Port Night Market will run every Friday and Saturday from June 20th to July 26th, continuing for a total of six weeks after 5 PM. It will take place in major commercial areas such as Wolmido, Chinatown, and Sinpo-dong. There are 103 participating stores, a 25.6% increase compared to the previous year (82 stores). Those interested in participating can download discount coupons for shops by joining the Incheon eZ app.

The Macchan Party, initially held for foreigners, will now be open to domestic tourists as well. It will take place on June 28th from 4 to 10 PM at the Open Port Plaza, featuring paid sales of beer and chicken gangjeong. Various experiential zones, such as Gyehwa Migakdang, Modern Costume Room, and Jemulpo Music Hall, will be available. Kim Young-shin, Director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the city, stated, “Night tourism will not only revitalize the old town commercial districts but also become a new growth engine for Incheon tourism.”
