Dr. Kim Jin-soo from the Chemical Research Institute elected as the next president of the Yeonchong.

A new president has been appointed to lead the association with approximately 2,600 members, consisting of researchers from 22 government-funded institutions in the field of science and technology. On December 5, the Council of Scientific and Technological Personnel in Government Research Institutions (연총) held a regular general assembly at the Daejeon Daedeok Tech-Biz Center Collaboratory Hall, where Dr. Kim Jin-soo from the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology was elected as the 15th president. She is the first female president in the council’s history, and her term will start on January 1 next year and last for two years.

The incoming president, Kim Jin-soo, announced a vision centered on the protection of researchers’ rights and the development of government-funded research institutes. Her three main goals include reflecting researchers’ opinions in science and technology policies, laws, and subordinate regulations; expanding member participation; and boosting researcher morale.

President Kim stated, “I will work to strengthen the status of Yeonchong, a representative organization that represents the voices of science and technology personnel in government-funded institutions, and to boost researcher morale.”
