Kellogg Envoy’s Daughter: “The Peace Plan Contains Russian Expressions… It Appears to Have Been Originally Written in Russian”
“Trump Not Involved in Specific Details… White House Chaos Continues”
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Koh Il-hwan – Controversy continues over who authored the 28-point peace proposal recently suggested by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine.
According to the New York Times (NYT) on the 23rd (local time), Independent Senator Angus King, representing the state of Maine, criticized President Trump’s peace proposal in a statement, saying it appears to have been drafted after extensive consultations with Russia.
Senator King, along with Republican Senator Mike Rounds, claimed that “the author of the peace proposal is not the U.S., but Russia.”
He alleged that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio disclosed this information to senators during a call.
However, the U.S. government countered the federal senators’ claims, calling them “clearly false.”
The State Department stated through a spokesperson, “The peace plan was drafted reflecting the opinions of both Russia and Ukraine.”
Also, Secretary Rubio, who was implicated in mentioning the “Russia authorship theory,” clarified on social media, stating, “The peace proposal was drafted by the U.S., and while it is based on Russia’s opinions, it also includes Ukraine’s perspectives.”
In response to the U.S. government’s rebuttal, Senator King maintained the “Russia authorship theory,” arguing that the peace plan contains content that rewards Russia for its illegal aggression.
Meanwhile, according to the British daily The Telegraph, Megan Mobs, Director of the U.S. Center for Advanced Security Studies (CASS), who is the daughter of Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg, claimed that the peace plan features expressions characteristic of the Russian government, suggesting it was not originally written in English.
It is alleged that the peace plan was written in Russian and then translated into English.
There is considerable speculation within the international community about the authorship of the peace proposal.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on social media that while he is willing to participate in the Ukrainian peace proposal, “we must be certain of the plan’s authorship before starting the work.”
Meanwhile, an anonymous U.S. government official told the Washington Post (WP) that President Trump is not significantly involved in the specifics of the Ukrainian war peace proposal.
The official described the situation by saying, “When you report to Trump that you’ll try to broker a deal, he says, ‘Great, see what you can do.’ That’s the extent of his involvement in the details.”
He added, “It was completely chaotic all day long,” noting that “even different departments within the White House don’t know what’s happening. It’s truly a bewildering situation.”
