Today marks the arrival of the summer solstice known as ‘So Man’ in Korean.
As expected for this season, it will be relatively hot during the daytime today. However, there will be a significant temperature difference between morning and afternoon as the temperatures rise.
The morning temperatures across the country will be similar to yesterday, around 15 degrees Celsius. The afternoon temperatures are forecasted to rise to around 25 degrees Celsius.
The highest temperature in Seoul is expected to reach 23 degrees, and in Gwangju, it will be around 28 degrees. Particularly in the southern regions, many places will experience summer weather surpassing 30 degrees.
There is a possibility of rain in the central and northern regions today. Around 5mm of rain is expected in Seoul, northern Gyeonggi Province, and the central-northern part of Gangwon Province.
On the other hand, Jeju Island is under a dry weather warning, and the southern regions are gradually becoming drier.
Central regions and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will mostly see cloudy skies today. The air quality nationwide is expected to range from good to moderate in terms of fine dust levels.
The hot weather during the day will continue for the time being, with a significant temperature gap requiring good health management. This has been the weather forecast by Kim Soo-jin, a weathercaster from Yonhap News TV.
