Yoon Sang-hyun, CEO of CJ ENM, announced the revival of tvN’s Wednesday-Thursday dramas. On the 10th, the ‘CJ ENM Content Talk 2025’ event was held at the CJ ENM Sangam Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Yoon Sang-hyun, CEO of CJ ENM, Park Sang-hyuk, Head of the Channel Business Division of the Media Business Headquarters, Min Sun-hong, Chief Content Officer (CCO) of TVING, CPs Kim Yoon-hee, Kim Ho-jun, Lee Won-hyung, PDs Jung Chul-min, and Kim In-ha, who introduced CJ ENM’s content strategy and main lineup for 2025.
On this day, CEO Yoon stated, “In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we have selected major content that exerted a positive influence in the industry, not individuals. We have brought changes to the content industry with stories and formats that were previously unheard of.”
He continued, “CJ ENM is not afraid of new challenges. We have constantly challenged ourselves to break limits. We take pride in the fact that our content has expanded the broadcasting paradigm and elevated the national prestige of Korea with incredibly diverse content. Until the imagination of talented creators shines as the best works, we have persistently developed the business.”
Additionally, CEO Yoon pointed out that, “Last year, ‘The Queen of Tears’ recorded the highest viewership ratings for a tvN drama ever. In terms of variety shows, we were number one in target viewership ratings for the 20-49 age group during prime time across all channels. Time magazine in the United States selected ten K-dramas, and five of our dramas made the list.” He declared that “2025 will also be a year of further advancement. Despite the market and economy rapidly deteriorating, we will not be discouraged, and we will continue to produce quality content and expand globally. The drama market has been considerably shrinking, leading to a decrease in the number of dramas being produced. Although there are many constrained areas, we hold a sense of mission to contribute to the development of Korean culture and will continue with our efforts. We will expand the scale of our content this year as well.”
CEO Yoon concluded by announcing, “We will revive the tvN Wednesday-Thursday drama slot. We will showcase works from new creators. The popular series with a strong fan base, ‘Someday Wise Intern Life’ (tentatively titled ‘Someday Wise Doctor Life’), is set to air in April,” and added, “We have high-profile, high-rating variety shows ready to be unveiled soon. Na Young-seok PD’s ‘Earth’s Amusement Room’ (tentatively titled ‘Earth’s Room’) is confirmed to return in April.”
