[Daily An = Reporter Hwang Hyun-wook] On the 24th, FSC Chairman Kim Byung-hwan expressed a negative stance on transferring the supervisory authority of the Saemaul Geumgo to the FSC.

During the comprehensive audit of financial authorities at the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee, Kim made these remarks in response to questions from Kang Myung-gu, a People Power Party lawmaker, regarding transferring the oversight authority of the Saemaul Geumgo.

Representative Kang stated, “There is ongoing discussion about transferring the supervisory department of the Saemaul Geumgo from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to the FSC,” and asked, “You stated during the previous confirmation hearing that you were opposed to the idea. Do you still hold the same view?”

At the confirmation hearing, Chairman Kim stated, “Considering that the Saemaul Geumgo is still in an unstable situation, altering the system might lead to further confusion.”

In response to Representative Kang’s inquiries, Chairman Kim said, “There are still unresolved matters, such as real estate project financing, so I believe it is not the appropriate time to discuss the transfer.”
