According to industry reports on the 15th, Chairman Son recently invited the heads of Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG Group to visit the United States. It is speculated that Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, who are currently in Japan for the US-Korea-Japan Economic Dialogue (TED), might head to the US. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won is also expected to depart for the US on the 16th. There are also discussions about Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG, joining.
The Stargate Project, conducted by Chairman Son in collaboration with OpenAI and Oracle, is a $500 billion project to build AI data centers across the United States. During their meeting with Chairman Son, the heads of domestic corporations plan to solidify partnerships regarding Stargate and explore additional cooperation in semiconductors, power, and other sectors. Samsung and SK Group have recently established partnerships with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, who visited Korea recently.
The visit of these corporate leaders coincides with the US visits of Kim Yong-bum, the presidential office’s policy chief, and Kim Jung-gwan, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, leading to expectations that the leaders will solidify their investment plans in the US, supporting the government’s negotiations.
