[Financial News] On the 12th, the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, led by the Democratic Party and other ruling bloc parties, passed a comprehensive second special prosecutor bill in a full committee meeting. This bill addresses three major issues: insurrection, Kim Geon-hee, and Chae Haebyeong. The bill is set to be finalized in the National Assembly’s plenary session on the 15th.
The comprehensive special prosecutor bill was put to a vote in the committee’s agenda adjustment meeting, primarily driven by the ruling bloc. However, the special prosecutor bill regarding suspicions of political contact with the Unification Church and Shincheonji was postponed.
Additionally, the committee passed an amendment to the Military Court Act, which excludes the jurisdiction of the Military Counterintelligence Command over insurrection and treason cases and grants investigative authority on military court cases to military police. This amendment also passed the full committee meeting.
