“The Ministry of Employment and Labor has launched a forced investigation into Hanwha Ocean following allegations of ‘unfair labor practices and interference in union activities’ raised during last year’s National Assembly audit.
On the 13th, the Tongyeong branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted a raid at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje workplace, deploying around 30 investigators to the labor-management cooperation headquarters and related departments.
The investigation team focused on securing computer hard disks, various labor-related documents, and a so-called ‘labor management notebook’ from the office of the labor-management cooperation team.
It is suspected that this notebook contains evidence of company support or intervention in specific union factions, a concern raised during the Environment and Labor Committee’s audit in the National Assembly.
Hanwha Ocean stated, ‘The Ministry of Labor is conducting an on-site investigation to verify facts regarding the labor manager’s notebook, which became an issue during the National Assembly audit,’ and added, ‘We are fully cooperating with the investigation.'”
