[Breaking News] Deputy Defense Minister: “Defense Minister Ordered Deployment of Troops to the National Assembly”

Kim Seon-ho, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, stated on the 5th that the deployment of troops to the National Assembly after President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law on the night of the 3rd was directed by Kim Yong-hyun, who was then the Minister of National Defense.

Deputy Minister Kim made this statement in response to a related inquiry from Cho Kuk, a member of the Joseon Revolutionary Party, during the full session of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee.

When asked by Representative Cho whether he agreed with President Yoon’s expression at the time of declaring martial law that the National Assembly had become a den of criminals, Deputy Minister Kim responded, “I do not agree.”

Regarding the incident of armed soldiers breaking into the National Assembly through the glass windows, he stated, “I have fundamentally opposed the deployment of military forces in such martial law and expressed a negative opinion on it.”

When asked by Representative Cho about who drafted the proclamation announced by the military command, Deputy Minister Kim said, “I cannot confirm the author. As far as I have confirmed up to now, it was not drafted by the Ministry of National Defense.”
