In June 19, 2011, Lee Eun-mi unfortunately lost her life at the age of 25 after being murdered by her boyfriend at the time.
The late Lee Eun-mi was stabbed multiple times by her then-boyfriend, Mr. Jo, with a knife near an apartment in Jungwang-dong, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do. Mr. Jo, reportedly enraged after being broken up with by the deceased, wielded the knife, shocking many.
In CCTV footage released by the police at the time, Mr. Jo was seen waiting for Ms. Lee as she returned home, dragging her outside, and then later Ms. Lee was found dead, with Mr. Jo fleeing the scene only to be arrested at a highway rest area the next day.
It was known that Ms. Lee Eun-mi and Mr. Jo met through an acquaintance in December 2010 and had been dating for about 6-7 months.
During police interrogation, Mr. Jo confessed that he had even thought about marrying Lee Eun-mi but impulsively murdered her after being told of the breakup. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison on December 19, 2011, during the second trial.
The news of Lee Eun-mi’s death greatly shocked the entertainment industry. Two months before her death, she had left a message saying, “I live in constant fatigue. Two months later… Let’s work hard and change one by one,” revealing her determination to continue her singing career. The sudden news of her murder came as a big shock.
Lee Eun-mi made her debut as the main vocalist of the three-member female trot group Iris in March 2005. After a member left in 2006, she continued activities as a duo. /[email protected]
