On the 17th, Tajo Entertainment, the agency, released a statement from the late Wheesung’s family, stating, “Thank you for visiting Wheesung’s funeral and mourning the deceased. We are informing you regarding the donation of condolence money in Wheesung’s name.”
Wheesung’s younger sibling stated, “Throughout the funeral period last weekend, many colleagues and fans filled the last journey of my brother, ensuring he wasn’t alone. Although we tried to reciprocate appropriately as a family, if there were any shortcomings, we hope you understand.”
He continued, “I was comforted by the words of those who said they found happiness and strength in life through my brother’s music. Seeing people who were so deeply saddened made me envious of the ability to love someone so passionately.”
Furthermore, he shared, “Despite struggling with difficult emotions and unexpected painful situations that weren’t easy to overcome, my brother never stopped his efforts and passion for music, creating beautiful songs. We earnestly hope that the works he brought to light continue to be remembered forever, and our family will strive to preserve them.”
Finally, he announced, “All the condolence money received during the funeral will be used in places where it can positively impact society under the name of singer Wheesung. We will find the most sustainable ways to do this through collaboration with experts in the relevant fields.”
Meanwhile, on the 16th, Wheesung’s farewell and burial ceremonies were held at the Seoul Samsung Hospital Funeral Hall in Ilwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Numerous colleagues from the entertainment industry and fans attended to accompany Wheesung on his last journey.
Wheesung debuted in 2002 with the studio album ‘Like A Movie’ and released numerous hits such as ‘Can’t We’, ‘With Me’, ‘Thinking of Marriage’, ‘Love is Delicious’.
