Asiana Airlines announced on the 10th that starting from the 11th, they will implement a ‘Zone Boarding’ system based on a ‘Back to Front’ method for economy class passengers on both domestic and international flights. This involves dividing cabin seats into specific zones and boarding passengers gradually starting from the rear seats.
The airline has divided the economy class into three zones labeled as ‘ZONE 1, 2, 3′, which are indicated on the boarding passes. The rear seats are given the earlier zone numbers. However, passengers who are pregnant, elderly, or traveling with young children are given priority boarding regardless of their zone number.
Asiana Airlines explained that this new measure aims to minimize passenger contact and reduce congestion, as opposed to the previous practice where economy class passengers boarded all at once.
A representative from Asiana Airlines stated, “By boarding from the rear rows first, we can reduce cabin congestion caused by storing carry-on luggage and potentially shorten the boarding time, improving punctuality. We ask for our customers’ understanding and cooperation to ensure a safe and pleasant boarding experience.”
